Today's anguished musing minute.
I am watching this TV series on the History of WWII with Tom Hanks. It deals with the war in an immanent way, not dealing with conditions that preceded it, except for WWI and the interwar period.
But not the detailed policy overreach and missteps that Libertarians are so fond of reciting in the sense "but for" these the wars would not have happend. Really? So what? They did. And Everyone in the world needs to know about it, the horror, the endless atrocities and suffering and the enduring legacy in which we still live..
But, sadly in the public discourse (if one can even call it that) these are dismissed, as if they are of concern only to the "oppressors" of the world. If we can replace them we can create a better world where there would be no war. The social justice warriors will do that if only they could gain the power, and to that end they ally with the Islamic project.
The people who watch the series are probably not the people who should. But, I keep hoping that this will soon change.
Tonight I watched episode 7 on the Holocaust - a name for something that has no name that can adequately describe it. I confess I knew it all before and turned my face from the screen a lot. But, even if you do know it, and certainly if you do not know the details you should watch this episode and urge others, especially young peopl (over 18) to do so.
